I remember the fear that I felt knowing that this amazing and kind woman was once again fighting for her life. I remember shedding tons of tears while I waited for updates after her surgery. I also remember the huge sense of relief when I got the news that she was all clear and no more cancer was detected in her body. Even though I am no longer in contact with the family for reasons I still can't completely wrap my head around, I still think of them often, and consider the courage of this woman completely inspirational.
It's no secret that breast cancer is a horrible disease and changes the lives of so many women and those that love them every single year. This disease is all too common, and it touches people from all walks of life. Breast cancer doesn't discriminate. The key to ultimately defeating breast cancer is early detection and of course, research and awareness.
