Now I was attempting to nurse at the time, so I changed my diet thinking that maybe she had some sort of sensitivities. This did not help, much to my frustration. I pumped and tried bottle feeding using traditional bottles. Still no improvement.
So I asked our pediatrician if she had any recommendations. Of course we added medication for the reflux, but she also suggested we try Dr. Brown's Bottles. I had seen them before, and thought they looked intimidating with all of the extra pieces used in their bottles. Still, we rushed out to buy some, and never looked back. It seems that Dr. Brown's did the trick, and my daughter could finally eat in peace! (This is because Dr. Brown's bottles offer vacuum-free feeding, and eliminate the uncomfortable ingestion of air bubbles.)
Now, I hate to admit it, but Sophie and Xander are no longer babies. At 3 and 4 years old, they're officially "big kids". (My uterus is aching as I type this!) Thankfully, Dr. Brown's offers some amazing feeding products perfect for toddlers and big kids like mine, too!
We love their divided plates the most. Each plate has 3 defined sections, which is ideal for the picky eater who insists that one type of food cannot touch another. (Yes, I deal with this with my 3 year old, Xander.) Using these plates, I can place fruits and veggies, protein, and breads in their own "safe" place. Oh, and I should also mention that these plates feature fun designs that little ones are sure to adore!
Another awesome product is the uniquely designed Spatula Spoon. These may look a bit strange, but trust me...They are a must have. I love the fact that the flat, spatula like design makes getting food on the utensil super easy, even for beginning self-feeders. These are also gentle in baby's mouth since there is a soft edge. Oh, and these babies also double as jar scrapers. Have you ever struggled to get that last bit of food out of a jar? Well, these utensils take the hassle out of that, too!
The Dr. Brown's Snack-A-Pillar Stackable Snack and Dipping Cups are always in my diaper bag, filled with things like grapes, granola, organic crackers, and cheese cubes. I love the fact that these cups have very secure screw-on lids to keep food in, and I also really like the fact that these cups can be screwed together, almost like a "snack tower". There is no digging through tons of kids' stuff needed when I use these. Snacks are served before any tantrum can ensue.
Dr. Brown's also carries both hard and soft-spouted training cups. These are wonderful, because they're truly spill-free. These cups use the same no-vacuum technology as their bottles do. This means that the ONLY time liquid will come out of the cup is when a child is drinking. My kids have thrown these cups, full of juice, and I was delighted to find that I didn't have any messes to mop up.
