In my small town in NE Ohio, we don't really have many grocery delivery services. I have always been incredibly jealous of my big city pals that can have their groceries delivered with the click of a button, even fresh produce, dairy, and meats. Even Amazon simply can't provide the fresh stuff, so up until now, I have had to drag myself out of the house to shop, usually with 2 crazy preschoolers in tow. Sometimes we have to head out in -50° temperatures, since Ohio winters have been ridiculously brutal the past few years. Venturing out in those frigid temps?. Not fun. Not fun at all.
Grocery delivery has been basically unheard of here. And if you prefer organic grocery delivery? Forget about it! The closest you'll come is heading to local farmer's markets, and sometimes the odd hours of operation just don't mesh with our schedules. This makes me sad, since I love nothing more than fresh fruits and veggies, especially this time of year. Recently, I learned about a company that pairs my laziness and lack of wanting to shop with my love for super-fresh, organic produce. Door to Door Organics has recently launched here in the great state of Ohio. I can finally have groceries delivered right to my door! And they're organic, too! Score! Door to Door Organics is famous for their customizable subscription produce boxes. In these produce boxes, you will receive amazingly fresh, organic fruits and veggies. You can opt for the preselected boxes, or substitute items if there's something your family doesn't particularly care for. Like onions. We skipped the onions.
You can choose several different sized boxes to suit your family's needs, and even set up a delivery schedule that's convenient for your life.. The Bitty Box is suitable for a single person or a couple, and the Large is great for large families or even dinner parties and get-togethers. Are your needs in between the two? No worries! There are also Small and Medium boxes to choose from.
The best part about Door to Door Organics?
In addition to their fresh produce boxes, they also offer a full grocery experience, right from the comfort of your own home. They have canned and boxed staples, fresh and frozen meats including deli meats, fresh dairy products, and even baked goods and pantry essentials. You can get everything you could possibly need to feed your family from Door to Door Organics. Pretty awesome, right? The website is very easy to navigate, and shopping is a simple, painless process. They are very organized, and you can find everything broken down into categories. Be sure to check out their sale items. You can find some amazing deals on all of your favorite organic foods there.
We placed a rather large grocery order, since it is summer and we do have a teenage boy, AKA human garbage disposal, in the house. I got over a week's worth of groceries, which were delivered at a set date and time.
Everything was incredibly well-packaged, and fresh items were kept cool inside of the boxes thanks to plenty of insulation. The breakable items were very well-wrapped, and we didn't have any problems with broken glass, leaky items, etc. Everything was in tip-top condition.
First, let's talk fresh, organically grown produce. We received a wonderful variety including everything from apples and oranges to cucumbers, broccoli, peppers, cilantro, and everything in between. All of the produce was very fresh and decent sized.
We got fruit for snacking as well as cooking, and plenty of veggies for sides and even some great meatless meals. I loved the fact that I could customize my produce box any way I wanted, making sure to grab my family's favorites.
We also got plenty of organic meats. These are GMO-free, and grass fed. We got stew meat, Ribeye and New York Strip Steaks, and even some ground beef. These are from the Fresh Source brand, although Door to Door Organics offers other brands as well. We also got a whole roasting chicken, boneless skinless chicken breasts, a nice pork tenderloin, and even some amazing bacon. Yes, we are definitely meat eaters here. I apologize in advance if any of my Vegan and Vegetarian pals are offended!
We also stocked up on pantry must-haves like cereal, oatmeal, granola, and even some dried fruits. These are things my kids love having on hand at all times. Door to Door Organics offers a very nice selection of these breakfast and snack items.
We also picked up several canned goods like beans, soups, and ravioli. Other items we made sure to try were salad dressings, pasta sauce, and some gourmet fresh ravioli.
Of course we can't forget dairy. We ordered tons of Stonyfield Organic yogurt for both cooking and snacking, as well as some fresh cheeses. We got cream cheese, shredded parmesan, ricotta, and of course some sour cream for my 15 year old who inhales the stuff.
While fresh is ideal as far as fruits and veggies go, I also like to keep some frozen produce on hand. Frozen produce contains all of the nutrients that fresh do, but they have a much longer shelf life, which equates to less waste. We got some tasty veggie blends as well as some frozen berries and peaches. Can you say "Yum!"?
Overall, I am pretty much in love with Door to Door Organics. Finally, I can have only the best organic foods delivered right to my door. I can shop from my bed in my fuzzy Eeyore pajama pants and no one is going to judge. And the quality of the food? Fantastic! The fresh foods are very fresh, and the canned, boxed, and frozen foods come from the most coveted brands in the organic food industry like Cascadian Farm, Alexia, Fresh Source, Crofter's Organic, and many, many more.
I have been having a blast creating new and exciting meals with my family using food from Door to Door Organics. We have really loved the fresh flavors and variety in our meals. Look for a very special recipe here on the blog soon. You're going to want to lick your screen, I guarantee it. So stay tuned! In the meantime, If you would enjoy the convenience of having nutritious, delicious certified organic foods delivered right to your home, definitely check out what Door to Door Organics has to offer. You can start small with a Bitty Box to try it out, and then add more from there. Trust me. You will want to add more! This company gets an A++ from me! I don't know how and it's been requested that I don't cook, so I love fresh fruit when it's perfectly ripe. White peaches and watermelon are two of my favorites.
