Anyone who has been reading for awhile is aware that I have no shame, and will talk about almost anything. Whether it's poop problems, keeping things spicy between the sheets, or how to use a menstrual cup, I am willing to be open and honest about it all.

Today, I'd like to talk about another somewhat taboo topic that most women don't openly talk about: unwanted body hair. Sure, it would be nice to assume that all women are velvety-smooth, hairless creatures with bikini-ready bodies 100% of the time. (Don't I wish!) The truth is, while some amazingly fortunate women have those characteristics, the vast majority of us just don't. Most of us rely on an annoying routine that consists of shaving, plucking, or waxing. Or maybe a combination of all 3!
As far as my personal battle against body hair, I've had it rough. I have PCOS, (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and one of the side effects? You guessed it...Excess body hair. In weird places, at that! I get odd, random hairs that pop up on my chin, on my lower back, and occasionally on my chest. It seems that I am constantly shaving, waxing and plucking. I need to shave my legs every single day or else I will feel like a walking sheet of sandpaper. It is beyond annoying, to say the least.

So when I learned about an at-home, permanent hair removal option, the Silk'n Flash&Go, I was beyond excited. I am not a fan of the idea of going to a professional for laser hair removal. I don't want anyone to see me naked. Heck, I try and avoid seeing me naked whenever possible! So being able to achieve long-lasting if not permanent results from the privacy of my own home? Absolutely! Sign me up!
About the Silk'n Flash&Go:

The Silk'n Flash&Go is a revolutionary device that uses HPL technology to safely, quickly, and effectively eliminate unwanted hair. This is a gradual process, so permanent results may take several treatments. Many users start noticing lessened hair growth in as little as 2 treatments.

Here are some benefits and features of the Silk'n Flash&Go:

My Review of the Silk'n Flash&Go:

I received a Silk'n Flash&Go to check out for myself. Honestly, I was a bit intimidated by this unit at first. I have tried other at-home hair removal devices before, and they ended up causing my skin to be painful and raw. So when I saw the warnings included, I was a little bit scared. Once I read the owner's manual in full and watched the instructional DVD, I felt quite a bit more confident, since I appear to be an ideal user. I have a medium skin tone and dark body hair, thanks to my Hungarian and Croatian roots.

Once you have determined that you're a good candidate for the Silk'n Flash&Go, getting started is super simple. The unit comes with absolutely everything you need to begin your journey to soft, smooth, hair-free skin.

The Silk'n Flash&Go is pretty easy to use. All of your controls are located on the top of the unit itself. Here, you can turn the unit on and off, put it in stand-by mode, and adjust the intensity of the HPL pulses. There are also indicators that let you know the unit is ready to use, as well as if your skin is too dark for use. This is a built-in safety feature, so if you do get a skin tone warning, the HPL pulses will be disabled to prevent damage to your skin. I got this warning one time, but it was because I was in a poorly lit area. Once I moved to a brighter room, I was good to go!

There are 5 different strength levels. I would recommend starting out on a lower level just to gauge your skin's reaction to the light pulses. If you don't experience any redness or discomfort on a low setting, you can probably get away with bumping it up to one of the higher levels. DO NOT start out on level 5.

The cartridge is attached to the end of the unit. This is how the HPL pulses are directed onto the skin. This will only work if the unit is pressed against the skin in its entirety. If you try to pull the trigger in open air, the unit will not work. This is another safety feature designed to protect your eyes from these powerful light pulses.

The Silk'n Flash&Go is safe for use on most of your body. Of course you don't want to put it near your eyes, or on your genitals. (This should be common sense, though.) Other areas to avoid are the nipples, lips, cold sores, infections, eczema, psoriasis, or any other area with abnormal skin conditions. So if you have a cut or scrape, definitely wait for it to fully heal before using the Silk'n Flash&Go.

Using the unit is so easy! First, be sure to remove the hair from whatever area you'd like to treat. You can shave, wax, pluck, or whatever else you generally do to remove hair. Make sure that the skin is clean and dry before use.

Once your skin is clean and ready for treatment, simply place the unit against the skin, wait for the ready indicator to show, and press the trigger. You will see a flash, which is the HPL being delivered to the skin. Once this happens, the area is treated, and you can move on to the next area. I do not recommend overlapping treated areas if at all possible. This can lead to skin irritation similar to what you'd feel with razor-burn or a sunburn.

I have been using this unit for about a month and a half. I have done 3 treatments to my arms, including underarms, my legs, and a few other random problem areas. I started out on the lowest setting for the first treatment, and then bumped it up to level 3 for subsequent treatments.

I know the first thing you're probably wondering is if it hurts. Well, I can definitely say that there is no real pain involved. After using the Silk'n Flash&Go, you may feel a slight warmth and a subtle tingling sensation. This is completely normal, and shouldn't cause any alarm. If you start out on a higher than optimal setting for your skin, you may experience the same discomfort you'd feel with a mild sunburn. That is just a cue to turn it down a notch the next time you treat that particular area.

And of course, I know you're dying to know how effective the Silk'n Flash&Go is at providing hair removal. Well, I have to be honest. I have not owned this unit long enough to experience the truly permanent results. That can take several months to achieve.

What I can tell you is that after only 3 treatments, I am definitely noticing that my body hair is growing back in far more slowly, and is definitely thinner and lighter. Instead of having to shave every single day like I normally would, I now have to shave once every couple of weeks. This is a HUGE improvement, and says a lot about the effectiveness of this unit.

With each treatment, my hair growth slows even more and the hair that does come back is less coarse and not as dark. It may take several more treatments, but I am confident that with continued use, I will finally banish the excess body hair that has driven me insane my whole life. This will do wonders for my confidence, and I will finally be able to slip into that little black dress or bathing suit with a moment's notice!

So if you're looking for an effective way to rid yourself of unwanted body hair, I would definitely recommend checking out the Silk'n Flash&Go. This product is safe, easy to use, and definitely produces some great, long-lasting results. Not to mention, this product will save tons of money compared to the accumulative costs of razors, waxes, and professional treatments.
