My kids absolutely love seeing how other species survive in their natural habitats. Of course living here in suburbia, the most wildlife we experience up close and personal would be our Yard Crashers, the feral cat family that has made my backyard home. When it comes to seeing animals that we don't encounter here in my small hometown, we choose Disneynature films. We've got quite the collection going. Chimanzee, Oceans, Earth, and now, the brand new "Disneynature Bears". From Disneynature, the studio that brought you “Earth” and “Chimpanzee,” comes the must-own true life adventure “Bears,” available on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy), Digital HD, Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA), and On-Demand, Aug. 12, 2014. An epic story of breathtaking scale, this heartwarming and visually spectacular film showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life’s most important lessons. Families everywhere can now travel to a majestic Alaskan wilderness teeming with life without leaving home as “Bears” arrives on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, and Digital HD featuring stunning high definition picture, transporting sound, and exciting bonus features both parents and their children will love. In "Disneynature's Bears", we meet Sky, a mama Kodiak bear, and her two cubs, Scout and Amber. We follow their journey through the Alaskan wilderness as they explore the world around them and search for food. Seeing the bear cubs and their curiosity is an absolute joy, by the way. They really do remind me of small children, all filled with wonder and excitement. Check out this trailer to see just how "human" the dynamics in this adorable bear family really are. Overall, we really enjoyed this film. As a mom, I loved the fact that none of the bears lost their lives. Let's face it: In many nature documentaries, someone ends up dying. That's just the reality of nature. But in this film, all the bears made it through the filming process unscathed. This is great because my little ones fell in love with these beautiful bears, and would have been heartbroken if something had happened to them.
To celebrate the in-home debut of “Bears,” Disneynature is proud to continue the conservation program initiated with the film’s theatrical release. For every purchase of the movie through August 19, 2014, Disneynature will make a donation through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, to further protect and conserve endangered or threatened wildlife and wild places as well as enhance field research across more than 2.9 million acres of National Park Service land.
