![]() I guess I can finally announce this, since it's official. We will be moving to my hometown in Ohio this summer! We have found a home we absolutely adore, and will be going to see it this Sunday. The home is an old Colonial built in 1924. It has been lovingly maintained throughout the years, and is absolutely gorgeous. The funny thing is, I have actually been inside the home before a few times when I was a small child. The details are a bit fuzzy, since this was more than likely over 20 years ago. As far as I know, I was visiting the Queen of England. I really don't recall who we were visiting, as a small child's memory can sometimes resemble Swiss cheese. But I do distinctly remember the home, and was able to describe it very well to the real estate agent. I was even able to tell her that when I was there, the deck was not present. She confirmed that this was indeed a later addition. So to us, it almost seems destined that this should be where we raise our family. Our potential new home is grand, with large room sizes, original wood work, and it even has built in bookshelves in the living room. It totally embodies t everything I love in older homes. So much charm and character, and you can tell the family that lived there really took pride in their home. I am sure, of course, that some updating and minor cosmetic work will need to be done. We will need to finish the basement, which can be done at our leisure, and I know that the bathrooms may need updating. That's why the opportunity to review one of the stunning bathroom faucets from Danze couldn't have possibly come at a better time! Danze is a wonderful company that makes elegantly and thoughtfully designed kitchen and bathroom fixtures. Whether you're looking for the perfect faucet or showerhead, or maybe even a toilet or mirror, the folks at Danze have you covered. In fact, they have over 20 named collections of beautifully designed toilets, vanities, faucets, showerheads and bath accessories that give you the freedom to build coordinated suites for your bath or kitchen. While browsing the many styles that Danze has to offer, we ultimately fell in love with the Eastham™ Two Handle Centerset Lavatory Faucet in the Brushed Nickel finish. We love the streamlined styling and the fact that this allows for a nostalgic, yet surprisingly modern feel. In a word, this faucet is timeless. The Eastham faucet came well packaged and with concise, easy to understand instructions. All the various parts and fittings were packaged in common-sense groupings, too. This is wonderful for the typical homeowner who may not have a load of experience in the plumbing field. The folks at Danze have really thought of everything, and want to make their customers' experience as easy and pleasant as possible. How easy is it, exactly? Well, I stealthily snuck into the bathroom while my admittedly handy husband installed our new faucet. Here's how it went! Here is our old, outdated and horribly tacky faucet. Boy was I glad that this would no longer be an eyesore for the rest of the time we're in this house! My husband giving the Danze faucet parts a quick once-over before he begins. He was very impressed by the way they were grouped together! Here is the Eastham faucet, out of the box, awaiting installation. Isn't it pretty? Dan unbolting all the doomaflickies that held the original faucet in. Yes, I just said "doomaflickies". Hey, I never claimed to know proper plumbing terms! It was funny, because he kept mumbling to himself "Righty, tighty...Lefty, Loosie". I had to chuckle a bit, cause it was pretty cute to hear a grown man saying this over and over! Woo-Hoo! The old faucet came out without a hitch! Please note, that icky looking stuff on the base is caulk, not mold. I was grossed out when I saw it, until Dan told me what it actually was! With just a few bolts and minor attachments, our brand new Danze faucet was installed and ready to go! I love the simple elegance that the Eastham has to offer, and I think it's a huge improvement over our old faucet, which was clearly a cheap, Walmart special. Don't you just love the sleek, streamlined profile of this faucet? I especially love the brushed nickel finish. It's so much warmer looking than chrome, in my humble opinion. Overall, we are in love with the products that Danze has to offer. They're superior quality, easy to install, and are absolutely gorgeous. They really have a luxurious, high-end feel to them. I would expect to see such faucets in ritzy hotels or larger estate homes, like the ones seen on MTV Cribs. Luckily, these are priced affordably enough that you don't have to be a celeb or rich debutante to enjoy them. I know that when we move into our new home, we will be turning to Danze for all of our kitchen and bathroom fixture needs. The next thing on my wish list? One of their beautiful kitchen faucets!
