Old Man Winter is certainly showing his wrath here in NE Ohio. Seriously. We got about 20 inches of snow in the past week or so, and they are calling for even more of the white stuff in our weekly forecast.
Of course, winter comes with runny noses due to the frigid temps, but it also comes with.....(Cue cheesy, foreboding music....) the cold and his evil twin, the flu. I wish I could say our household has been spared from their evil grip....I wish....But we all caught a particularly nasty flu about a month ago, and it was miserable. Completely and totally miserable. I literally felt like I was going to die and had to go get fluids. It was THAT bad, folks.
I usually try and stick to natural remedies whenever possible. However, I am not too proud to admit that sometimes, my "hippie concoctions" don't do the trick. This flu was one of those occasions. I had both DayQuil Severe and NyQuil Severe Cold & Flu within arms reach at all times. You know...Because my body hurt so badly that I didn't want to have to get out of bed to fetch it.
Vicks DayQuil Severe Cold & Flu
I have to say, these products definitely helped us muddle our way through our illness. It stinks when a family of 5 becomes flu-stricken all at once. Especially when 2 of those people are pre-school aged. My husband and I had to be able to function to care for them, too. NyQuil Severe Cold & Flu helped us get a good night's sleep, and the DayQuil Severe allowed us to semi-function the next day. Did it totally get rid of our wintertime-sickies? No, of course not. But it did lessen the symptoms enough to make the flu from H-E-double-hockey-sticks just a bit more bearable. When a cold or flu rears its ugly head, you really can't ask for more than that. It's sweet, sweet relief.
