Cinderella was proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life. If it weren't for those glass slippers, fairy tales simply wouldn't be the same, and the Princess would still be stuck cleaning chimney ashes, hanging out with mice, and catering to her not-so-nice stepmother and stepsisters. But that pair of shoes...Well, they just turned everything around for her.
Okay, so we all know that fairy tales aren't real. There is always cleaning to do, I just killed a mouse in my house last week and lived to tell the tale. My Prince Charming, while amazing, doesn't ride a white horse and often demonstrates some not-so-pleasant bodily functions...In public...And then giggles about it. However, I think I just found the shoes that will change my life. Nope, not kidding at all.
You see, we have a puppy...3 of them, actually, but one in particular likes to chew shoes. Snickers, our Lab/Shepard mix, took it upon herself to destroy 8 pairs of my shoes, including the boots I got when we moved to Ohio over the summer in anticipation of Ohio winters. And my tennis shoes, and my slippers, and my flip flops, and some heels...You get the picture. While she has stopped eating shoes, (thank God!) I was still left bootless. Until I discovered Cobb Hill Shoes by New Balance.
Now I was already familiar with New Balance and have been drooling over their Limited Edition NYC Sneakers for quite some time now. But Cobb Hill was a brand I wasn't familiar with before. Here's a bit more about them!
About Cobb Hill :
The Drydock Footwear Group, a joint venture with New Balance, is home to the Aravon, Dunham, and Cobb Hill brands. From our go-anywhere sandals to a been-everywhere waterproof hikers, everything we make is a perfect blend of comfort and style. Always available in an extended range of sizes and widths, we're pretty certain your shoes will fit your feet as comfortably as the occasion.
We are located on Boston's commercial waterfront directly across from the city's drydocks. Our location and name is a great fit for our culture which is all about developing product from every angle -- especially below the surface. And being in the midst of this working-class hub is an everyday reminder that if you want to get things done in this world, there's no substitute for hard work and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
Okay, so Cobb Hill is very classy, stylish, and timeless. They offer a wide variety of casual shoes, boots, and dress shoes that are not only insanely comfortable, they will also never go out of style. All of their footwear is made from premium, luxurious materials, and they're made to last. Here are a few of my favorite Cobb Hill offerings:
My Review :
The generous folks at Cobb Hill sent me not one but 2 pairs of their boots to review. (Actually, one was by mistake, but they told me to keep them anyway. Thank you, Cobb Hill!) The first pair I received were the Belinda in Grey. When I felt them for the first time, I couldn't believe how soft the leather was. I mean, it is downright velvety! I also love the color shading found in these boots! (Notice the darker grey at the toe and the heel.)
Since Cobb Hill was so generous as to let me keep these, I decided to give them to my sister-in-law for Christmas. They have a country feel to them, and she is definitely a Cowgirl at heart!
Now for the boots that changed my life. The Bridget. Ahh...I have to say it was love at first sight. The Bridget Boot by Cobb Hill is a taller boot, and hits just below my knee. (I am short, though, so for more vertically blessed gals, they might be mid-calf.)
The Bridget features antiqued, brass-like buckles and zippers, and is made of that same, ridiculously soft vintage leather. I received the Stone color, which is actually a nice, muted shade of brown.
Again you can see the color variations and shading that give Cobb Hill boots such character and attitude. These actually remind me of biker boots, but with a lot more class. The details are understated and inherently feminine, and are sure to make any gal feel stylish and sassy. These boots look great with a skirt or with skinny jeans or leggings.
Okay, good looks aside...And let's face it: Looks DO matter when it comes to shoes! Are they comfortable? Well, let me just say that these are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. They are very soft inside, and offer wonderful support for the feet. I have been wearing these constantly, and my feet have yet to be sore or tired. They even hold up to inclement weather. As some of you may know, most of the country is being pummeled by a winter storm called Euclid. Well, I have been dealing with blizzard-like conditions, and my Bridgets have kept my feet warm and dry.
Overall, I LOVE my Cobb Hill Boots. They are supremely comfortable and luxurious feeling, and they're very well-made from only the finest materials. Oh, and in case I didn't mention it, they're absolutely gorgeous. So here are the shoes that changed my life. I will never be able to look at other boots the same way. These just have it all...Looks...Comfort...Attitude...Yep, I have to say I'm in love. Luckily, my Prince Charming doesn't seem to mind one bit!
