The mission at Diaper Buddys is simple: They are committed to providing the highest-quality organic cloth diapers and other environmentally friendly items. They only sell one brand of cloth diapers, Bottombumpers. And for good reason! By specializing on one brand, they are able to keep costs to the consumer very affordable. Plus, they stand behind their diapers and believe that if you try them, you'll love them! Really! Another added bonus: The diapers sold at Diaper Buddys are made and sold by Work-at-home mothers in the USA!
Bottombumpers diapers are one of the trimmest, most absorbent All-in-One diapers out there. Unlike other diapers, these are very trim everywhere, especially the legs. They lay flat on their bodies making the diaper easy to fit regular jeans and clothes over. These are perfect if you are tired of upsizing clothes to fit overy bulky, awkward diapers! I know I have had this very issue many, many times. Especially fitting pants over most cloth diapers. Either they fit over the diaper but are too big everywhere else, or the diaper is too big for the pants, creating a very awkward peek-a-bum effect...Not to mention nasty compression leaks!
Bottombumpers are made in the USA and have solid PUL outers, Organic Cotton lining with Organic Bamboo Velour Topped Organic Cotton Snap in Soakers. (Can we say SUPER-absorbent?) Another great feature is that all of the snaps are hidden from babies delicate skin. This is a major plus, as I have had issues with my babies' skin accidentally getting pinched from diaper snaps, (usually when Daddy is doing the changing) as well as nasty, red indentations being left on my babies' bellies! Ouch!
I was definitely intrigued about Bottombumpers. I had heard the name before, but had never tried them. I am familiar with side-snapping diapers, as I have a couple made by different brands. But a side-snapping All-In-One? Now THAT was new to me, as the others I have tried have all been pocket diapers. And a trim AIO that is one size? Now THAT is a rare find, too! Needless to say, I was eager to try these diapers! I have an 18 month old girl as well as a 6 month old boy, so I was definitely able to put Bottombumpers to the ultimate test! Girls and boys wet differently, so I couldn't wait to see how these measured up.
Patti at Diaper Buddys surprised me and sent me 2 Bottombumpers, one for each baby! They are also prettily packaged. Let's face it: Getting Fluff Mail is the highlight of my day, and Diaper Buddys makes it all the more special by adding a pretty bow! (See photo at the top of this post.)
When these diapers arrived, I immediately noticed that the inserts snap into the diaper, and are on a color coded system. A snap in absorbent soaker is included with each diaper. The soaker can be shifted forward and back to fit the size you need. These soakers are 4 layers Organic Cotton and topped with Bamboo Velour and are ridiculously soft. To adjust this one size diaper, Bottombumpers have developed a unique snap down color coded system under the soaker of the diaper. Lift up your soaker and snap down the green studs to the various colors to adjust to the size you need. This is absolutely genius, if you ask me! It made customizing the diaper to suit each baby effortless and error proof! It was a cinch to diaper both of my very different sized babies using this system. Also, the side snaps allow plenty of room to grow as well, and can be customized to fit both of my babies perfectly.
These diapers are super soft against my babies' skin, and seem to be quite comfortable, as my daughter does not tug at her Bottombumpers the way she sometimes does with other brands. The inner of these diapers is made of Certified Organic Cotton and they feel absolutely luxurious to the touch. They're almost as soft as the inserts, which are constructed of 4 layers of this same Organic Cotton and topped with a heavenly layer of Bamboo Velour. Bamboo is awesome for its absorbent properties, and is soooo soft! To my babies, this must feel like sitting on a cloud. The inner portion of these diapers are absolutely THE softest I have come across, and I have used a lot of different diapers in the past.
These are also very easy to wash, since there is no un-stuffing involved whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I leave the inserts snapped in when I wash them! They come clean very well, and I have not had any issues with piling or staining. (I use Rockin' Green Classic Rock Detergent on my fluff, by the way.) The only thing I have noticed is that they do take a little extra time to dry completely, probably due to the Bamboo layer. However, most AIO's require additional drying time, so this was not a big deal for me at all. I just added 10-15 extra minutes to the dry cycle.
Overall, I LOVE Bottombumpers, and am so grateful to Patti at Diaper Buddys for giving me the opportunity to try these! They definitely deliver on their promises to be trim, absorbent, and one-size-fits-all! FYI: Diaper Buddys also offers sized Bottombumers, too, if you don't need a one-sized diaper. Here are some additional photos of my babies rocking their Bottombumpers!
