I know we're planning to have several get-togethers during the summer months. In our town, every weekend there is live music on the riverfront, which happens to only be a couple of blocks from our home. (Which is just one of the zillion reasons I love my hometown more than any place I have ever been.) So naturally, we intend to invite friends and family over to enjoy food and drink, and then head over to check out the bands that are playing. We just bought new patio furniture, a grill, and one of those huge wooden playsets for the kids. We also have a relaxing hammock and a fire pit for bonfires. So we're pretty excited to finally start entertaining in our new home. But with party planning comes stress....and lots of it! There is menu planning, decor to find, invitations to get out, and even music playlists to create. For a busy mom like me who already has a ton of responsibilities, it's enough to make me want to scream at times. That's why I choose to be calm and relax after a busy day using essential oils from Aura Cacia. I am a firm believer in the mood-enhancing properties of aromatherapy, and different essential oils have different effects. When I am trying to calm down and de-stress, I like Ylang Ylang. Benefits of Ylang Ylang : Ylang Ylang is actually a very interesting essential oil, which has many benefits. First, it's aroma is intoxicating. It's floral and slightly fruity, without being overwhelming. (Probably why a lot of perfumes include this oil!) Ylang Ylang is a known mood-booster. It helps with depression, anxiety, anger, and stress. It's also rumored to be an aphrodisiac! This can be used in many ways....Either as a room fragrance, a pillow spray, or in a nice hot bath. You can also use this on the skin. Other reported benefits of Ylang Ylang include it's ability to quell oily skin and acne issues, and it has also been shown to be helpful in the treatment of Alopecia. Calming Uses For Ylang Ylang : - Add 3 drops of ylang ylang to sweet almond oil to create a natural perfume. - Place 1-2 drops of ylang ylang on pillow at night for sweet dreaming. - Add 7-10 drops of ylang ylang to tub for a relaxing, sensual bath experience. - Combine 2 drops ylang ylang and 4 drops bergamot per ounce of water for an uplifting mood mister. The awesome folks at Aura Cacia sent me this wonderful Ylang Ylang gift set to check out for myself. It includes several great products that are designed specifically to calm and soothe as party-planning season gets into full swing. The products included are: - Ylang Ylang III Essential Oil - Euphoric Ylang Ylang Massage Oil - Sensual Cinnamon & Ylang Ylang Foam Bath - Euphoric Ylang Ylang Mineral Bath - Aromatherapy Room Diffuser - Pillow Potion I have really been enjoying these products. The Mineral Baths are so soothing and luxurious. There's nothing like relaxing in a sweetly scented bath. If I could accomplish this without little fingers reaching under the bathroom door, it would be even better. I'm sure you moms out there can relate! I also love the Massage Oil. It feels amazing, and absorbs into the skin very well without leaving a greasy feeling. I have been using this review opportunity as an excuse to get daily massages from my husband, and it has been fantastic. Not only do we get couple bonding time, I get to have the stresses of the day literally rubbed away. The Pillow Potion and Aromatherapy Diffuser are great, too. I have the diffuser in my bedroom, and it truly helps to create a calm, peaceful environment. It's my own little sanctuary away from the chaos that comes with having a teenager and 2 toddlers. I love using the Pillow Potion before bed, as it lets me fall asleep surrounded by the intoxicating scent of Ylang Ylang. Oh, it leaves my hair smelling nice, too! If you haven't tried essential oils before, I would definitely recommend them. I have been using them for years, and they truly do help to calm, uplift, or invigorate the spirit. No matter what you're looking to address, chances are, there's an essential oil for that! If you want to de-stress, though, Ylang Ylang is definitely the way to go!
