![]() When a baby cuts their first tooth, it's a milestone to remember. Soon those precious, toothless grins will be replaced by a mouthful of pearly whites. While watching your child grow is a memorable experience, teething can be a royal pain, for baby and Mommy alike. Teething can be very uncomfortable for baby, making it difficult to sleep, eat, and even nurse. I always felt so bad for my babies as they began teething. Their poor little gums were going through Armaggedon, and there was very little I could do to help them. Sure, there are plenty of topical teething gels that are meant to alleviate teething discomfort. But many of these contain synthetic medications and ingredients that could potentially be harmful to baby. I won't name names, but recently a huge brand's infant teething gels were actually found to be potentially deadly due to the inclusion of Benzocaine in their formulation. Pretty scary, isn't it? Then you have old school people who mean well but give horrible advice about teething relief. I'm sure you've heard people suggest rubbing whiskey on a child's gums. While this may provide relief, it's not something I will ever do to my babies. I am not an advocate of doping a kid up with alcohol for any reason. Others may suggest gnawing on a cold carrot. Well, for a baby with no teeth at all, this is an option. If a child has a few teeth, the old carrot remedy can cause bits of the food to break off, creating a choking hazard. My youngest son, Xander, is currently cutting 8 teeth right now, 4 of which are molars. Needless to say, he's been a bit fussy at times. That's why I was so excited to learn about Camilia, a natural teething relief product made by Boiron. Not only is this product completely safe, it also addresses the causes of teething pain rather than simply masking it. How does Camilia work?
Here's some info about the product: Camilia is a homeopathic medicine that works naturally and safely with the body to relieve teething pain without side effects or risk of overdose. It’s a one-step teething solution for pain and irritability that’s easier than the two-step process that some parents use for treating teething pain (a short-term topical numbing agent applied frequently throughout the day combined with a longer-lasting anti-inflammatory at night). Camilia’s sterile, single-use liquid oral doses are pre-measured, easy to administer, and worry-free; they do not cause numbness, drowsiness or an upset stomach. The single-use doses are also extremely convenient; keep them in your diaper bag, car, purse, etc., so they’re ready to use as needed. They contain the following three natural, plant-based active ingredients that work together to relieve pain and restore the peace: - Chamomilla 9C HPUS* - Relieves teething pain accompanied by irritability - Phytolacca decandra 5C HPUS - Relieves painful gums - Rheum officinale 5C HPUS Relieves minor digestive disorders associated with teething Camilia can be used for children ages one month and older, and parents can dose as frequently as every 15 minutes. With Camilia, there’s no risk of overmedicating, drug interactions, masking of other symptoms, or numbing your baby’s gag reflex. It is made without benzocaine, dyes, sugar or preservatives, and it is tasteless. I have been using Camilia to help soothe Xander's teething pain for a couple of weeks now. I must admit, I am quite impressed! This product is super-simple to administer, even to a fussy baby, and goes to work quickly. The amount of liquid in a single dose is very, very minute, and it doesn't have an offensive taste. I have noticed that when I give my son a dose of Camilia before bed, he stays asleep longer and doesn't wake up screaming. (BIG brownie points there!) Camilia is also great during the daytime, and seems to relieve his poor little gums for hours. That makes for a happier baby and a happier Mommy! I would definitely recommend Camilia to anyone who is looking for an effective, safe, and natural remedy to teething woes. Your baby will thank you, and you might just get a few more hours of sleep at night! Teething can be a real pain, but with Camilia, it doesn't have to be! BUY IT: You can learn more about the benefits of Camilia and get a $1 Off coupon on their website. Camilia is available at Walgreens, Whole Foods and The Vitamin Shoppe, as well as many local health food stores for a suggested retail price of $7.99 for a 15-dose box.
