![]() I recently had a birthday. I am 31 years old. (Shhh! Don't tell anyone!) I prefer to just say I have celebrated the second anniversary of turning 29. That seems to work well, and I don't have to acknowledge having passed the dreaded 3-0 mark. Sure, that's very silly of me and age is nothing but a number, but this Mama is still in serious denial. My husband just laughs at me, and that's okay, because I can laugh at myself, too! In all seriousness, though, as women age, we become increasingly aware of all the little changes our bodies and complexion go through. I have had 3 children, all via cesarean sections, so I am constantly noticing the changes that came with each pregnancy. Wobbly bits, a belly pooch, and of course, stretch marks. In a perfect world, a tummy tuck would be included in the cost of childbirth and/or bodies would simply bounce right back to their pre-pregnancy states. Hey, a girl can dream, right? Another thing that I have noticed are some slight changes in my complexion, some brought on by the above mentioned pregnancies. You see, back to back pregnancies can be quite unkind to the skin. When I was expecting Sophie and then Xander soon after, I tended to break out some due to the influx of hormones. This unfortunately left some mild discoloration and unevenness on my skin. Fortunately, it hasn't been too severe, but I notice it. Another thing women start to notice in their 30's are the beginning signs of wrinkles. These can creep in as fine lines or can blaze in full force as crow's feet or what I like to call "Angry 11's". (Angry 11's are 2 vertical lines right between the eyes at the bottom of the forehead which become more pronounced while scrunching the brows in an angry face.) Luckily, so far wrinkles really aren't an issue for me. I think that's because I have been using skincare products religiously since my very early 20's, and I always use a good SPF to protect my skin from harmful sun exposure. When it comes to skincare, prevention is key. You're never too young (or too old!) to start being proactive about maintaining a fresh, youthful appearance. Thankfully, there are some great skincare products out there that can help prevent and even correct these all too common skincare woes. One of my favorite skincare companies, Perfective Ceuticals, just introduced a line of brightening products that are designed specifically to help prevent and correct discoloration of the skin that can occur from several environmental factors as well as hormonal changes. So whether you suffer from acne scarring, sun spots, or discoloration that simply comes with age, these products can help make a very visible difference and help bring back that youthful glow! I recently received 2 of these brightening products to try for myself, the Divine Brightening Cream with Gigawhite and the Divine Brightening Serum with Gigawhite. They came in the oh-so-elegant navy blue Perfective Ceuticals boxes I have grown to love, and the tubes themselves are a newer, lighter shade of blue. I know packaging and presentation isn't everything, but I love products that look pretty on my shelves. It seems to add to the feel of luxury for me. But good looks aside, let's get into the important questions: How do these products work? DO these products work? Well, here are descriptions of both products! DIVINE BRIGHTENING CREAM WITH GIGAWHITE: Details: The skin brightening cream unites the power of Gigawhite and Ethyl Ascorbic Acid to help inhibit the enzyme responsible for the production of melanin and repair the appearance of pigments, dullness and uneven skin tone. Combined with a concentrated extract of Algae to increase oxygen in skin and boost collagen production, the skin appears denser, brighter and more evenly toned. Hydroquinone-free. Fragrance-free. Scientifically proven. Direction: Apply a small amount to the face and neck with gentle and smooth circular movements. Wait five minutes for absorption. For best results, use after Divine Brightening Serum with Gigawhite, and follow with Anti-imperfection Eye Therapy with Growth Factor. Apply twice a day or as directed by physician. Apply a sunscreen with broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection before sun exposure. For topical use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs, rinse off and discontinue use. DIVINE BRIGHTENING SERUM WITH GIGAWHITE: Details: Illuminate skin with a potent dose of Gigawhite and Ethyl Ascorbic Acid. This concentrated skin brightener helps fight tyrosinase, a primary cause of spot formation and discoloration, and protect against sun damage that threatens to hinder the glow of the skin. This results in rejuvenated, restored and refreshed skin clarity for a more luminous, younger looking complexion. Hydroquinone-free. Fragrance-free. Scientifically proven.
Direction: Apply 3-5 drops to freshly cleansed face and neck. Massage gently to ensure absorption. For best results, apply Divine Brightening Cream with Gigawhite to lock in the serum, and follow with Anti-imperfection Eye Therapy with Growth Factor. Apply twice a day or as directed by physician. Apply a sunscreen with broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection before sun exposure. For topical use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs, rinse off and discontinue use. But do they work? In a word, YES! I have been using both products for a couple of weeks now. I love them both! The serum is probably my favorite, but I am a bit of a serum junkie! The Divine Brightening Serum with Gigawhite goes onto the skin smoothly and absorbs extremely quickly. A little goes a long way, as with most serums, and all you'll need is 2-3 drops to cover your entire face and neck area. Once I have applied the serum, I add a thin layer of the Divine Brightening Cream with Gigawhite. This cream is thick, rich, and feels wonderful on the skin. It leaves my face soft and moisturized, and it even seems to make my skin feel more rejuvenated and slightly "tighter". While this product isn't made to address fine lines, I think it would probably help diminish the appearance of them. (Perfective Ceuticals has a fantastic line of anti-aging products that cater to wrinkles specifically, too!) As always, I apply a good sunscreen on top before I apply my make-up. This is so important, as it prevents sun damage and allows these products to do their job in the most effective manner. These products are easy to use and don't irritate the skin at all. They are also fragrance-free, and scientifically proven to effectively lessen discoloration with continued use. The key to success is to use these products everyday, as the lightening effect is gradual. Sorry, ladies, as with all good things, you need to put the effort in and wait for the results to show. In just a couple of weeks, I have noticed my pesky acne scars and discoloration have faded considerably. They're not nearly as noticeable, and with more prolonged use, I am confident that they'll fade away even more. Overall, I am very happy with my latest Perfective Ceuticals experience. I have used several of their products, and am always looking forward to their new innovations. They certainly don't disappoint! I have recommended these products to family and friends who are looking for an easy, effective way to address their skincare woes. As usual, Perfective Ceuticals gets an A++ from me with their new Brightening line! BUY IT : You can purchase these and other great products on the Perfective Ceuticals website. In 2007, Perfective Ceuticals broke new ground in the anti-aging skin care industry by uniquely combining Omega 3-6-9 with the most advanced peptides and Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) in its Divine Age Guardian formulation.

I would love to try the anti imperfection eye therapy cream. I've had dark circles under my eyes all my life. my grandmother was convinced that dark circles under my eyes meant that I needed a nap. I spent a great deal of time 'napping'.
