***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. No other compensation has been provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** The Holiday season is upon us, and while this is a joyous time of year, it's also notorious for being brutal to the waistline. After all, when people celebrate, they eat. And eat. And eat some more. Pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, chocolate goodies, mac and cheese....the list goes on and on! Someone usually ends up asleep on the couch with their pants unbuttoned. (Usually the man of the house, at least in my experience!) One way to help keep those extra pounds from creeping on this winter is by having a good workout routine, and actually DOING it a few times a week or even daily. One great new routine that's designed specifically for women is Beyond Strong with Jessica R. About Beyond Strong: BEYOND STRONG® ON THE BALL is designed to create a balance of strength, endurance and flexibility while developing a strong and stable core. Using an exercise ball, light weights and your body weight, this workout is designed to be a total body workout integrating the whole body and emphasizing proper body mechanics. The end result is a BEYOND STRONG® body. Designed for all fitness levels, BEYOND STRONG® ON THE BALL consists of three 15-20 minute workouts that focus on your entire body, starting from the core and can be done individually or as a complete one-hour workout: The Basics, BEYOND the Basics and BEYOND STRONG®. Each of these workouts consist of three sets of three exercises performed in a row, using all muscles in conjunction with one another to maximize your workout. What You'll Need: Exercise Ball Light Weights · Exercise Mat · Stretching Strap My Opinion : Okay, this is a bit embarrassing...I have an exercise ball. I have had it for years. But the only time I have ever used it was while 9 months pregnant, trying to bring on labor. (Didn't work, by the way.) It has never, ever been used for exercise. Not once. I know...Horrible, isn't it? So I was pretty excited about finally using my exercise ball for its intended purpose. I got it out, cleaned off the proverbial cobwebs, and popped in the DVD. I really love the fact that Jessica takes the time to really explain the workouts. She breaks them down in plain English, and even gives you "The Seven Steps" that you will use throughout them. These steps include things like proper posture, a mental checklist, and listening for cues, just to name a few. This gave me a lot more confidence going into the routines. There are 3 different workouts. The first one is stretching. I absolutely LOVE this, since it definitely relaxes me and addresses any muscle tightness. At the end, I feel pumped and ready to dive into the next routine! There are also routines that address core strength. They combine the ball with upper and lower body exercises, and even incorporate the use of weights and a a stretching strap. These are comfortably paced, so it's great for beginners or even those at an intermediate level. My favorite aspect of Beyond Strong is the fact that Jessica really communicates throughout...She tells you how and what you should be feeling at any given point. This is good for people like me who are discovering muscles they didn't even know existed! I have been doing this series of workouts for about 3 weeks now. I have definitely noticed a difference in core strength, endurance, and flexibility. Sure, these routines can be challenging at times. Yes, you will feel a definite burn, especially if you're a beginner. But these things prove that the program is working. And the "burn" is short-lived. Once you get used to it, you will find that you end the workout feeling energized and great! I would definitely recommend Beyond Strong On the Ball with Jessica R. to anyone who is looking for a challenging yet simple routine that they can do right in the comfort of their living room. I know I will be continuing my routine throughout the Holiday season! I don't want any extra bulk to be added with all the yummy seasonal treats! How to Connect : You can learn more about Jessica R and purchase your own copy of Beyond Strong on her website. You can like Jessica R on Facebook and follow her on Twitter . I haven't been doing a workout at all, and with having had a baby almost 5 months ago I really need to be doing something! I would love to have a workout video, maybe that would be the motivation I need!
