When my oldest child was little, I used to work at his school. This was actually pretty great, because when he started his first day of Kindergarten, I was starting my first day there, too! I actually worked at Kyle's school for his first 3 years of attendance, and I loved being able to have an inside-look at how his school days went.
One of the things I loved most about my job was the fact that I got to work with so many different children, from different walks of life. We had lesson plans, helped with homework, and of course, there was plenty of crafting. One craft involved itty-bitty little beads, and a hot iron. Of course the ironing wasn't something we allowed the kids to do on their own. Can you imagine handing a small child an iron?! Yeah, me either. So I did the ironing for them....And even in the careful hands of an adult, the iron proved to be hazardous. Truth be told, I still have a scar from one of the times I accidentally burned myself. After that, I have stayed far, far away from those heat-treated bead kits.
So when I discovered the Beados Quick Dry Design Station, I was definitely pretty excited. This crafting system is very similar to the heat-treated crafts I was used to, but there is no need for an iron, or heat at all, for that matter!
Beados adhere together using ordinary water. Yep. That's it! No messy glue, no heat, and no potentially dangerous iron. Just plain water. This had me breathing a sigh of relief!
Beados™ is the craft activity by Moose Toys where kids create designs using beads that magically stick together! In three simple steps, kids can create their ownBeados worlds with beads that stick together with just a spray of water. Once dry, the beads are fused together and kids can place their designs in the enclosed display stands and use the connectable play pads and scene cards to create aBeados world of their own. Beados is available at mass retailers and is appropriate for age four and up.
The Beados Quick Dry Design Station comes with everything you need to make some truly gorgeous bead designs. There is a building tray, bead storage caddy, a tool for placing the tiny beads, and a little water bottle to spray them once your design is complete. Oh, speaking of drying, Beados comes complete with a built-in fan to help you dry your creations with lightning speed! (This requires 2 AA batteries, not included.) Pretty neat, don't you agree?
While I was going to give this to my preschoolers, my teen insisted that Beados go to him. He loves anything artistic or creative, and he often makes gifts for his friends. Right now, he's actually making all of his besties cute little Zodiac signs using the Beados system. Check out his tribal Pisces sign below! For younger kids, or if you need design inspiration, you can use the included guides to make pre-designed Beados creations, too.
Overall, we're definitely loving Beados. This system offers fun, creative play, as well as safety. I love the fact that the beads fuse together with water alone, eliminating the need for hot irons or glue guns. This is definitely a game-changer in the world of children's crafting! While this is designed for kids ages 4+, Beados offers fun the whole family can enjoy. Just ask my high school aged son!
