***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation has been provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** ![]() With babies that were born a mere 12 months apart, doing every day things like cleaning or going shopping has been tricky at times. After all, I cannot singlehandedly push a shopping cart and a stroller at the same time. It just isn't possible. And of course, not all stores have those massive carts with 2 kid seats. Luckily, we discovered baby-wearing early on. Not only is baby-wearing convenient, it also has proven benefits for both the parent and the child. Babies are comforted and happy while all snuggled up, and Mommy can actually do the dishes. Not only that, but babies who feel safe and secure from birth tend to be happier, healthier and very well adjusted. I have tried several different baby carriers, from slings to wraps to soft-structured carriers. Some I adore, some, not so much. The sling and wrap carriers are probably my least favorite because I just never felt confident that my babies were completely secure. I always worried that they would come tumbling out somehow. (That wouldn't be good!) So when the folks at BabyBjörn asked me to review their new Baby Carrier One, I was very excited. This is a brand that somehow I had not tried yet, and I have always heard good things about them. The BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One is very versatile. It is designed to accommodate babies from 8lbs/21" to 33lbs/39". This equates to newborns to roughly 3 years of age. There is a newborn setting and a baby/toddler setting, so no newborn inserts are required. It's literally all-in-one! The Baby Carrier One can be worn in a few different ways. Baby can be worn on your chest facing inward or outward. (The minimum age for the outward facing position is 5 months and the maximum weight for this position is 26lbs.) You can also wear older babies on your back. Personally, I am not a fan of baby facing outward, and my kids don't like it, either. I know a lot of parents love this, so I just wanted to point out that it is a possibility with this carrier. Better yet? There is a leg zipper that allows baby to maintain a natural leg position, whether they're newborns or toddlers. The BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One offers a good amount of padding in the body and the straps, which makes it more comfortable for both the parent and the child. There is also a belt that clips around the parent's waist to help evenly distribute baby's weight. This is a very good feature since it helps prevent back and shoulder pain. The BabyBjörn has a lot of room for adjustments, so users of all shapes and sizes should be able to comfortably wear it. The thing I like the most is that the user can shift baby's position in one swift movement without removing the child from the carrier. For example, you can move baby from your back to your front in a matter of seconds. This can be done without an extra set of hands to help out, too! Sophie doesn't like to be worn anymore, but Xander, who is almost 3, doesn't mind it too much. We don't baby-wear full time anymore since our little man loves to walk alongside us, but we always keep our BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One on hand in case he gets tired or just wants some extra snuggle time. We went to the park yesterday, and sure enough, Xander got all tuckered out before Sophie was done playing. He prefers Daddy to wear him, so Dan slipped on the Baby Carrier One and I helped put Xander inside. He hung out on Daddy's back while he pushed Sophie on the swings. The BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One is very comfortable for Xander, and even though it was an awfully warm day here in Ohio, he didn't get sweaty or overheated. He also didn't need to wiggle around and shift his body, since this carrier is just the perfect fit. He spent about an hour and half being worn yesterday, and there were no problems at all. Xander was happy, and Dan's back and shoulders did not suffer at all. BabyBjörn definitely hit the nail on the head with their brand new Baby Carrier One. This is so easy to use, folds up nicely to fit into most diaper bags, and is extremely comfortable for both the parent and the child. I love the versatility and generous weight limits, too. Whether you're brand new to baby-wearing or a seasoned pro, I would definitely recommend giving the BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One a shot! It will become available on October 1, 2013! I loved wearing my daughter when she was a little lighter. She is 13 months now and I am very excited about this new carrier! It really looks like it will solve a lot of problems! Baby wearing saved me for those days she would not let me put her down and it let us bond all the time. I miss those early days. :)
