Now that the weather here in NE Ohio is FINALLY a little more predictable, my family has been spending a lot of time outdoors. We love hanging out on the deck and in the yard, cooking out, playing Bocce Ball, and just enjoying quality time together as a family.
Xander is only 3, though, and sometimes has a hard time keeping up. He often runs and runs and runs until his internal battery runs out! (Sound familiar, Moms?) Of course when he gets tired and needs a little recharge, the LAST place he wants to do it is in the house. Thankfully, we have an amazingly portable solution that allows our little man to take a nap without having to bring our party indoors.
The brand new BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light is easy to set-up, easy to take down, and even folds up into an attractive carrying case that looks a lot like a nice piece of luggage. It comes with a comfortable, rather luxurious mattress, and is suitable for children ages 0-3. Xander is 3 and a half, but my kids are a bit on the teeny side, so this still fits him quite well.
Before I get into just how much I adore the BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light, let's get the technical specs out of the way. You know, because everyone should know the ins and outs of any product they might consider purchasing.

The BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light complies with the standard ASTM F406.
BABYBJÖRN STATEMENT RELATED TO FLAME RETARDANTSEnvironmental Science & Technology magazine reported in May 2011 that the foam found in many baby products (e.g., portable mattresses, baby carriers, changing table pads, etc.) contains chlorinated Tris, or other flame retardants. These chemicals, while legal to use in the US, are considered toxic.
This is not an issue for BABYBJÖRN products. Each of our products meets all safety requirements of the 2008 Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, including those related to flame resistance, and they also are certified to a rigorous, international standard (Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, Class I). This standard prohibits the use of flame retardant chemicals (e.g., Tris, PBB, TEPA, TCEP9, etc.) in products made for children.
In short, your child’s well-being is our first priority. You can use all BABYBJÖRN products with confidence, knowing that they are free from health-hazardous substances.

Our Review of the BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light :
When our Travel Crib Light arrived, the first thing I noticed was how modern and streamlined it is. It's also fabulously gender-neutral, making it the ideal gift for any baby shower. We received the Silver color, but this crib is also available in black.
This crib features a very sturdy frame, mesh sidewalls, and a very comfortable mattress that folds up when not in use. (Fitted sheets are also available for this mattress on the BabyBjörn website.) Due to the unique nature of this travel crib, you should ONLY use the mattress provided in it.
We set this up outdoors initially, since we were having a little BBQ and letting the kids play on their wooden playground. We knew that Xander would probably get all tuckered out, so having this crib set up made perfect sense.
It was very easy to assemble, and has absolutely no additional pieces that need to be snapped on. (MAJOR brownie points there! We seem to ALWAYS lose little pieces to things!)
My little monster...Oops, I mean man, is 3 and a half, but he is definitely on the smaller side for his age. I know several 2 year olds that are bigger than my Xander. But age isn't so much an issue when choosing this travel crib, since it's sturdy design doesn't have any upper weight limits. This is a safe enclosure until your child is able to climb out on their own. (Xander can't quite yet, as the sides are fairly tall.) As you can see, there's plenty of room in this crib for baby to nap, play, or take a quick breather away from the action.
I was a bit worried that Xander would refuse to be put into this crib. After all, he is not a little baby anymore and hasn't really used a play yard in quite some time. We stopped using them when he could climb out of them easily. Surprisingly, he was really excited about the Travel Crib Light. Perhaps it's because it's not "babyish" in appearance and looks more like a cool place to hang out than a "baby bed". He gladly spent time inside, and even did take a quick cat-nap while we grilled our burgers and dogs.
Packing the Travel Crib Light away was incredibly easy, too. All you need to do is pull on the legs so they come disjoined from the frame and fold it up. Easy, peasy!
Here's what it should look like with all 4 legs folded in. You don't need to worry about this popping open on you unexpectedly, either. It stays locked into place very well. It's also very compact and can be stored in even smaller spaces.
Remember the cool, luggage-like case I told you about at the beginning of this post? Well here it is, with the Travel Crib Light packed neatly inside. It's pretty impressive that the crib fits so nicely into a very manageable case, don't you agree? I much prefer this design as far as carrying cases go, since it's not awkwardly shaped or bulky.
Overall, we are absolutely loving our BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light. It's so simple to use, and it's definitely a lifesaver when we're out and about with the kids. Not to mention its good looks! I love the ultra-modern, sophisticated design and gender-neutral styling. It's also very safe and sturdy, making it a great choice for babies and small children. So basically, you've got it all: Quality, Style, Comfort, and Safety. But coming from the folks at BabyBjörn, would you expect anything less?
