I do realize it's winter time, and many people don't associate sunglasses with this time of year. However, protecting your little ones' eyes from harmful UV rays is super-important all year long. Here in Ohio, I actually have the kids wear sunglasses and sunblock when playing in the snow. Yes, you can get sunburn in the snow. We learned this the hard way, and now we take precautions.

Today, I would love to introduce you to something that includes what we like to call "The 3 S's". It's soft, snuggly, and soothing. When you have 2 kids under the age of 5 in the home, these attributes are super-important, in my humble opinion. Especially when little ones get tired and cranky. In our house, the cranky one is usually our youngest son, Xander. When he decides he's unhappy, we usually look for ways to soothe him quickly. He's like the Incredible Hulk...He gets pretty scary when he's angry and exhausted! I received samples of X Out to facilitate my review and a thank you item for participating.*** My son, Kyle, started high school this year. High school. Wow. How did that even happen? It seems like only yesterday I was getting him ready for his very first day of school. Now, rather than being the little boy who would snuggle me for hours on end, he is a 5'10" young man, who probably wouldn't be caught dead sitting in his Mommy's lap. Along with growing up comes lots of changes. In addition to my son growing 6 inches over the summer alone, he has also started...maturing. You know. Voice deepening, body hair becoming more pronounced, and of course, there's acne. Kyle really hates it when his skin breaks out. He doesn't have severe acne that requires a prescription, but he does experience the fairly regular appearance of pimples. Usually, they wind up making their appearance on his nose, chin, and forehead. He gets pretty embarrassed, and has even tried covering a zit with a band-aid so people wouldn't notice it. Sadly, that never, ever works! Recently, we decided to give X Out, from the makers of Proactiv, a try. X Out is a simple to use, gentle acne treatment that is free of sulfates and parabens. This is a HUGE plus, since I try my best to purchase "cleaner" products for my family. It is also dermatologist tested, and has been proven to be safe for all skin types.
The X Out kit that we received contained the following products:

First of all, having any shot at a real, White Christmas is a very nice change. In Virginia, snow didn't happen too terribly often, so winter traditions like sledding, snowmen, and having a yard blanketed in white, fluffy snow on Christmas morning simply didn't exist. Here in Ohio, we get plenty of the white stuff. Plenty.
But more importantly, I have family here in Ohio. I have grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, parents...In Virginia, we just did't have that. I am glad I can give my kids a childhood filled with warm family memories. And...Well....I would be totally lying if I said I didn't look forward to Christmas dinner. I am not a big Thanksgiving fan, because I am a freak of nature and don't like turkey. I usually fill up on sides. It's a sad, sad eating day for me. My family sure ends up happy, though, since they love all the Thanksgiving day foods! ***Disclosure: This post is sponsored by GameStop. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** Do you have any hard-core gamers in your life? I sure do. My husband is basically a 37 year old "big kid", and he loves nothing more than playing a few video games to unwind after a long day. His favorites tend to be games like Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy, and HALO. We have another gamer in the house, and it might not be who you'd expect. Sure, we ALL love gaming. My teen enjoys playing on occasion, and so does my youngest son. But the biggest gamer in the house? It would HAVE to be my soon-to-be 5 year old daughter. Sophie lives, eats, and breathes gaming. She is constantly playing games on her tablets, laptop, the XBOX 360, or the Wii. She loves watching gaming videos on YouTube, too. Yes, this child will seriously sit and watch other people play video games for hours on end. She actually prefers this to things you'd expect a 5 year old girl to enjoy, like cartoons and princess movies. Don't believe me? Check out this Instagram video I posted a few weeks ago. Here, Sophie makes it very clear what kind of girl she is!
