Thankfully, our dogs are little so it's not too overwhelming. And the cats? Well...they're cats and pretty much keep to themselves on sunny windowsills until they want some snuggling.

They are both getting educational games and tablets, and we're also giving art and dramatic play related presents. There is something magical about a child's imagination, and I am a huge fan of creative play. One company that offers about a zillion educational and imaginative products is Lakeshore Learning. This company has been around since 1954, and provides wonderful, engaging products to schools, daycares, and homes nationwide. While there is online ordering available, Lakeshore Learning also offers brick and mortar locations from coast to coast that offer free children's crafts, teacher's workshops, and more! Here is a bit more info about Lakeshore Learning and their commitment to our children.

No other compensation was provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** With 2 preschoolers and a teenager to shop for, it's sometimes hard to find one place to get quality gifts for all of them. Gifts for all of them that actually encourage creativity and learning? Now that's even a more difficult task. Obviously my teen already knows his ABC's and 123's, just like my preschoolers aren't ready for Algebra. The difference between these age groups is like night and day.
So when I learned about the awesome, educational gifts at Museum Tour, I was beyond excited. They offer tons of high quality toys and gifts that satisfy all interests and age groups. From art to science to paleontology and even detective gear, they have it all. No, really. They do! Where else could I find this awesome Living Sands set for my little boy... ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation was provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** I know you're probably being bombarded by gift ideas right now. Whether it be commercials on TV, online ads, or in store displays, there is no doubt that the Holiday shopping season is in full swing!
Having 3 kids to shop for, I know how hard it is to find that one perfect gift. Sure, toys with all the bells and whistles are fine. But eventually, all the lights and sound effects tend to lose their appeal, and the toy ends up inevitably tossed to the bottom of the toy box. And yes, I do purchase all the fancy-shmancy toys. They're fun, and my kids really do enjoy them. But every year, I try and find something that can have sentimental value for my kids as they grow older. Something that will help bring fond memories of childhood that they can pass on to their own little ones someday. (But not TOO soon....I am not ready to be a Grandma for at least 20 more years!) When I was a little girl, that special thing for me was my blankie. Okay, I should say blankies, to be exact. I had 2 very simple, waffle-weave cotton blankets. One was yellow and one was blue. I took my blankies everywhere. I wore them like clothing and ended up looking like a Feed the Children poster child, I dragged them on the ground, and I had them with me in the car at all times. They were not only super soft and snuggly, they were also there for comfort and security. Eventually, my Mom had to destroy them because I simply would not give them up. Wow, I wish I had those blankies now! So when I saw the adorable stuffed pals from Bommersheim Buddies, I knew I had found that special toy this year. For one, there is a certain air of nostalgia about them. They're not fancy or complicated....They're very simple, actually. Just a stuffed friend with some really adorable fabric choices. Many times, when it comes to young children, simple is better! I suppose this nostalgic feel is due to the fact that this company is a family business based in a small shop in Indiana. (That's right! Bommersheim Buddies are made in the USA!) They have lovingly made these cuddlies with removable covers for three generations for their own family, and now it’s a business, so anyone can enjoy them! ***Disclosure: This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sudafed.*** Do you know anyone who is literally allergic to the rain? No? Well, you do now! My name is Brandy, and I am severely allergic to the rain. Okay, I don't know that it's the rain itself that makes me feel like death warmed over, it's more likely the change in barometric pressure. Regardless, my nose is more accurate than any meteorologist I have ever seen. At about 24 hours before a good rain, I become absolutely miserable. My nose drips like a hot water faucet. It's non-stop, and it's completely maddening. This then causes my nose to become red, raw and painful. Ouch! If that wasn't bad enough, I also get severe sinus pressure and pain, as well as migraines. It's often bad enough that I can't even get a good nights sleep. I should be used to this, since my sinuses have given me trouble my entire life, but how does one truly get used to feeling like a pile of drippy manure? |
