This can be challenging since I have an adult-sized teen and 2 preschoolers. Of course in the case of the Plasma Car byPlaSmart, Kyle, my 13 year old, is big enough to ride this, too! .The Plasma Car accommodates riders of all sizes, up to around 220lbs on smooth surfaces. How cool is that?! The Plasma Car is made by PlaSmart, a Canadian company that avoids noisy, electronic toys that have a shelf life shorter than my beloved, yet played out, Ed Hardy wardrobe. Kids often bore quickly of such toys, and PlaSmart understand this. So they offer timeless products that are not only a ton of fun, but are also enduring. The wonderful products from PlaSmart are toys that a child will go back to over and over again, rather than toss into a box to collect dust. They offer a wide variety of other toys and games that are designed to stimulate little imaginations and promote creative play. Many of their toys also allow a kid to go outside and get physical exercise, which is so important for children in the age of this childhood obesity epidemic. They even have a Balance Bike for babies and toddlers! Yes, the folks at PlaSmart are a parent's dream come true, since they offer products that allow a child to be stimulated in many different ways, whether it be mental or physical...Or Both! ***I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. After all, there are plenty of ways to making learning fun! We love going on Nature Scavenger Hunts, cooking and measuring in the kitchen together, and of course there's reading time.
Another way we love to connect as a family is by playing games together. I prefer games that are not only fun, but educational, too. Sometimes it's hard to find a game that everyone can play, since we have a teen and 2 preschoolers. They're definitely on very different levels academically and developmentally. Luckily, the folks at Simply Fun have creative, educational games that the whole entire family can enjoy. With great titles like Fourmation and Tibbar's Find My ABCs and Tibbar's Find My 123s and many, many more, you're sure to find something that everyone in your family will enjoy. ***Disclosure: I received this product for free from Smiley360 in exchange for my honest review. We've all suffered through a pretty brutal cold a month or so ago, and it seems that even more bugs are going around now!
My husband and I are tough...We can (barely) function while we're sick. But having sick kids that are full of ooey-gooey snot? Not fun. Not fun at all. Especially for my 2 and 3 year olds! When they're too congested, they can't sleep very well, and end up keeping me awake all night long. Here are 5 great tips we personally use to make cold and flu season just a little more bearable. ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation was provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** Ladies, let's face it. Men aren't always the most clean-cut creatures. My husband is horrible about shaving and cleaning up as often as he'd like. Usually, it's because his facial hair grows as insanely fast rates, and he'd literally have to shave 2 times a day to remain totally smooth. Dan also has some crazy eyebrow and nose hair issues to contend with. He's got a few hairs that grow ridiculously long, poking out of his nose and onto his eyelid. He always complains that taking the time to maintain a nicely groomed look is too time consuming and inconvenient, so he just lets it go a few days longer than he should.
So when I got the chance to review the MicroTouch SwitchBlade, I was definitely excited. I had seen this product advertised on TV, and it promises to be an all-in-one grooming tool that can be used from head to toe! Enter to win holiday gift items from the affordable to the indulgent! You can win prizes from top brands such as: Binkd Kids, Cherished Moments, Chloe Pink, Cuipo, EarZings, Envie de Fraises, Flik Flops, Giraffe Bath and Body, Golly Gee-pers, Guzzie and Guss, Intelligent Potty, Isossy Children, Jubilee Collection, Kickboard USA, Little Poco, Manhattan Toy Company Matilda Jane Clothing, Millions of Color, MiniJoops, Mom's Kisses and many more. If you have a teen, you know that Holiday shopping for them isn't always easy. Teens seem to have tastes that change like the weather, so a gift that could be perfect one day might be "totally lame" the next. For example, my teen son, Kyle, went from being a High School Musical and Hannah Montana fan to becoming absolutely obsessed with Lady Gaga almost overnight. He still loves Mother Monster, but has broadened his horizons to include Blood on the Dance Floor, Black Veil Brides, and even some classic rock like one of my all time favorite bands, The Doors.
In addition to being a big music fan, Kyle also loves movies and artwork. Some of his current favorite movies include Despicable Me 2, Monsters University, and Wreck-It Ralph. (What can I say, we're a Disney family!) So of course, I'd love to give him some unique gifts that reflect his own personal style. One great way to do this is by framing posters of favorite bands, works of art, or even movie promos! I will be purchasing some wholesale poster frames as well as some vintage posters of some of Kyle's favorite entertainment artists and films. So far, I have a Lady Gaga poster, a great Doors poster, and even some psychadelic art work featuring tie-dye and peace signs. There is also a Despicable Me poster on its way. These will help make his bedroom into his own personal retreat. He's going to love it! Framing posters is an economical way to jazz up any space, and is very simple to do. You can really frame anything you'd like, from posters and prints to completed jig-saw puzzles. (They make a glue that will hold it together permanently. This can be found at any major craft store.) Have you ever framed posters for home decor use? What themes did you use, if any? Did you find that framing extended the life of your favorite images? I'd love to hear any ideas you may have! ***Disclosure: I received this product for free from the sponsor of the MomsMeetsm program,MayMediaGroupLLC,who received it directly from the manufacturer. I know one of my favorite gifts as a child were books. In fact, books actually caused some headaches for my parents. I liked reading so much, that I would often fall asleep with books in my waterbed. (Yes, I am giving away my age here!) Well, as you can probably guess, I ended up popping holes in my mattress more than once. My parents eventually got tired of patching it, and got me a conventional bed, instead.
Anyway, I am delighted that my 3 kids seem to love books and learning as much as I did when I was a child. They're always asking loads of questions about nature and how things work. So when I got the opportunity to check out some great kids' books from National Geographic, I was over the moon excited. You know, I have to confess...I have always thought of Angelina Jolie as someone a little dark...mysterious....and maybe just ever so slightly evil. The way she carries herself just proves that she's a strong, beautiful woman who takes no prisoners...So I truly wasn't at all surprised when I learned that this Hollywood Mega-Star was cast to play one of Disney's most foreboding villains, none other than Maleficent. Just look at the poster above and tell me she doesn't fit this wicked role perfectly!
From Disney comes “Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconicvillain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well. The film stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville. “Maleficent” is produced by Joe Roth and directed by Robert Stromberg, with Angelina Jolie, Don Hahn, Matt Smith, Palak Patel and Sarah Bradshaw serving as executive producers. Linda Woolverton wrote the screenplay. “Maleficent” opens in theaters on May 30, 2014. Check out these great new images from the film. Don't they look completely enchanting? Okay, maybe a little foreboding, too! I wouldn't want this notorious villainess finding me wandering in a dark forest somewhere! ***Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Maytag. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.*** As you all know, I am a proud Maytag Mom. I absolutely love my Maytag kitchen, and it helps me accomplish everything I need to on a daily basis, conveniently and consistently. Hey, it can be pretty time consuming taking care of a family of 5, which includes a bottomless pit teen and 2 always hungry preschoolers.
