40. ~Gulps~ Is this the beginning of the end? Or maybe the best has just begun....Either way, I'd be lying if I said that the number itself didn't give me a little bit of anxiety. If I listen to Hollywood, my youth is (supposedly) gone, and it's time to get serious about taking care of myself. I'm not getting any younger, so things like a healthy, balanced diet, proper amounts of sleep, hydration, and good skin care are more important now than ever before. Speaking of good skincare, I was super stoked to try some great products from the trusted skin care experts at Merle Norman. These folks have been in the game for a long time. I think I even remember seeing their Studios back in my teenage Mallrat Days in the Washington, DC/Northern VA area. So when I recently got the chance to try their Skintelligent skin care line? I couldn't wait! I'd love to tell you more about a few of my favorites, so keep reading. ***Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. That's the best way I can describe "Pooling to Paradise", which is available NOW on Amazon and other streaming services. (Details at the bottom of the post.) This is a quirky, timely, and oh so relatable story about the dire need for something we can't replicate in the Digital World we live in: True human connection. It also serves as a reminder that no matter what we look like, where we come from, or what path in life we may choose, we are all still beautifully interconnected as we journey through this mysterious, magnificent thing we call life. Sometimes, we just have to look for the extraordinary in everyone we meet, and see what we can learn from them. "Pooling to Paradise" is an indie comedy about a ride share that turns into an unexpected road trip to Paradise, NV. Four strangers, each at a crossworlds in their lives, find unexpected connections that change their view on life. Jenny (Lynn Chen, Saving Face, Go Back To China), a Los Angeles mom, leaves her family for a blogger convention in Vegas, and accidentally chooses “pool” on her rideshare app, placing her in a car full of strangers including struggling activist Kara (Dreama Walker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Gran Torino), heartbroken talent agent Sean (Jonahan Lipnicki, The Resident, Jerry Maguire) on a quest to find Dawn (Taryn Manning, Orange is the New Black, Hustle and Flow) and their hipster/anarchist/shaman driver, Marc (Jordan Carlos, First Wives Club, Broad City). Personalities clash, vulnerabilities unwind, and bonds form as they each find their own personal Paradise. Full of humor, heart, pathos and a psilocybin drug trip in Death Valley, Jentis’ script is a relatable millennial road trip rom-com perfect for summer. Check out the trailer below: POOLING TO PARADISE is written and produced by Caytha Jentis (Bad Parents, The Other F Word). The film was directed by Roxy Shih (Mira Mirar) and Angela Pedraza (Joyride) served as Producer. Executive Producer Jared Safier handles the films’ sales. It recently opened the 2021 Ft. Myers Film Festival and won best feature. It was also the opening night film at the Female Eye Film Festival. The film was an official selection at the Santa Monica International Film Festival. The film will be distributed domestically by SP Releasing and released on VOD August 3, 2021 on several platforms including Amazon, Vudu, Comcast, Charter and more. It will also be available on DVD in Walmart’s across the country. For more information about the film, please visit https://www.poolingtoparadise.com. Sure, you got your binders and pens and notebooks, but what about the must haves that often get overlooked? Dry shampoo for days she's running late? Lip balm to keep their lips moist and looking on fleek? I know my daughter tends to lose her lip balms almost as quickly as I can buy them.
The folks at QUR, pronounced "cure", have an awesome solution that your teens and tweens are sure to love. Oh, and they're harder to lose, too, thanks to the fact that the Clipbalm design easily clips onto your bag or even yoga pants for safe-keeping! How cool is that?! The beauty innovators at QUR challenged themselves to identify key, everyday items in the personal care and beauty space that need a reboot and a refresh. They wanted to create modern interpretations, improved usage, and a better self-care experience. They understand the changing needs of their consumers, and strive to differentiate QUR's products by offering unique, often patented components that take their products up a notch and offer a better user experience. |
