True beauty comes from the inside...We've all heard that statement before. It's true in more ways than one. Sure, those with kind hearts and generous spirits tend to literally glow. But did you know that there is actually a scientific basis for this statement, too? Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder but science suggests you can influence that eye. The influence happens on the Outside -via topical creams - and on the Inside - via dietary supplements. The idea of "Beauty From Within" has been well known amongst dermatologists, scientists and, of course, most women. Now there is clinical evidence that a simple solution, a lutein-based cream and supplement, can have a dramatic impact on achieving beautiful skin and thus, influence the eye of the beholder.

Between now at August 26th, Step2 will have site wide shipping of $2.99 or less! This is amazing, since many of their products are large, bulky, and shipping can get a bit pricey! Lucky for me, I live about 15 minutes from Step2's headquarters and they have an awesome Step2 store on site! But for those who don't have the luxury of living in "Step2 Country", definitely take advantage of this site wide sale. It's only going on for 6 days, so HURRY! As a family of 5 plus 3 fur babies, we have a LOT of stuff. So much that when we moved to Ohio a couple of weeks ago, we completely filled a 26ft moving truck, the entire inside of my Mercedes, the entire rear portion of Dan's Suburban, and the bed of my Dad's pick-up truck....And we STILL had to go back to Virginia a second time and rent a 12 ft trailer to get the rest of it! No, I am not kidding, unfortunately. So we decided to weed through some of our unneeded things and either sell them or give them away. We ended up giving away a patio dining set, a huge gas grill, a Bowflex, and a few other things by using Craigslist. Let me tell you, some of the people we had to deal with were more than a little "off." One woman came over and proceeded to talk for almost 2 hours about her kitty cat....That died 6 years ago. Another couple people seemed very shady and looked like they'd served quite some time behind bars. Oh, and then there was the pervy old man who blatantly hit on me in front of my husband and children. Umm, no thank you! Now that we're in our home in Ohio, I am going through even more things I don't need cluttering my new house. One thing I have a LOT of is cloth diapers. All styles, all colors, all sizes, tons of brands. I must have a few hundred of them! (With 2 babies, you need a big stash! As a blogger, the stash just kept growing!) Sophie is in the potty training process and doing fairly well. So I think it's time to sell a good chunk of my stash, especially the more feminine looking diapers. Cloth diapers have amazing resale value, so I think I can make a good amount of money! Since I don't want to go the Craigslist route again, and things seem to just get lost in the ocean otherwise known as E-Bay, I started searching for a more user-friendly way to sell items I no longer need. That's when I found Ubokia! What is Ubokia? It's an online marketplace that is completely free to join. Here you can sell pretty much anything you'd like to sell. You can even list services such as babysitting, house-cleaning, web design, etc. Buying and selling through a blog marketplace means you are connecting with other like-minded people - making it easier to find what you want and in general your interactions are more pleasant than something like Craigslist. I think I will list some cloth diapers on Ubokia. They should sell like hotcakes, since I won't have to wait for potential buyers to see my listing. I can immediately connect with buyers who are looking for exactly what I have to offer. You can also look for things you want to buy, in the most specific sense. If you'd like a bike with a green seat that's a specific brand, BOOM! You'll find it! If you post a want, it's shared with the friendly Ubokia community, so you're more likely to find a match!.Ubokia is easier for buyers because all they have to do is post a want and let sellers come to them. No more searching! I know I will be using this service as I get things we need for home improvement. What a great way to stretch our budget as far as possible! Take a look at this brief video explaining the whole Ubokia experience: Part of the reason I am so ecstatic to be back in my hometown in Ohio can be summed up in 2 words: Rocco's Pizza. This is a local treasure that has been around since I was a little kid. They're owned by an Italian family, and all of their food is authentic and mouth-wateringly delicious. The star of the show has got to be their sheet pizzas. I have tons of great memories from childhood about this pizza. I was in a father-daughter group through the YMCA called Indian Princesses. Each week, there would be a "tribe meeting" at one of the group member's home. We'd always order Rocco's Pizza. It's funny because the dads in the group would ask for 1 anchovy to be placed randomly on the pizza, under the cheese, of course. All of the girls would then be paranoid while we ate...Worried about who would get a bite of something fishy and disgusting! As a child, I always dreaded that lone anchovy. As an adult, I laugh...Our dads really loved messing with us! Sadly, while I am back home in Ohio, I have not yet had Rocco's Pizza yet. Why? Because they don't deliver and my husband is lazy once he gets home from work. He doesn't feel like driving to get a food that can easily be delivered. So that leaves me with a craving for a nice, cheesy sheet pizza. And no one has this but Rocco's. So when I learned about the new Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Crust with Whole Grain, This way, I could make my own sheet pizza in the comfort of my own home. This takes care of my craving, and makes the hubby happy because he doesn't need to run out to pick up a pizza. The kids are happy, too, since they love fresh pizza out of the oven. Add to that the fact that this crust has 16g of Whole Grain per serving: It's a win-win situation! Now I have tried a few premade doughs before, and a lot of them leave me disappointed. Some are dry and taste like cardboard, others have no flavor whatsoever. I was pleasantly surprised by the Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Crust with Whole Grains. This crust is delicious, and doesn't taste like a shipping box at all. It has a nice texture and consistency, and it's not too thick or too thin. It's just right, in my opinion. It also comes out moist and has the right amount of chewiness to it. For store-bought, this is an amazing, ready to use pizza crust! Before I get into my review of the super-awesome NeoCell Collagen Sport, I want to clear something up. I know what you're thinking....Okay, at least what those who know me in "real life" are thinking...I can almost hear a collective shout saying "Brandy, but you don't play any sports!" This is very true. At 31 years old I am not as active as I'd like to be, or have been in the past. (Although I sincerely believe that chasing 2 toddlers and 3 dogs around should be an Olympic event. If it were, I know I would take home some major bling.) While I don't actively participate in any sports now, I have done so extensively in the past. Whether it be swimming, martial arts (yup, this mama is a dangerous weapon!) or even being a forward on the basketball team, I have always tried to be as active as possible. Now that I have toddlers, a preteen, and a home to take care of, I simply don't have the time for organized sports and my exercise comes in the form of housework or taking a walk/jog through the neighborhood. If I am lucky and no one is around to point and laugh and see all my wobbly bits jiggle, I also have some excellent workout DVDs. I am a firm believer that exercise should be FUN, so I am not ashamed to say I break out some off-the- wall, high energy Richard Simmons DVDs! I know he's known as a weight loss guru, but his workouts are a ton of fun and keep you laughing. They're wonderful even if you're a healthy weight like I am. Recently, my workouts have been a little more grueling. You see, we just moved from Virginia to my hometown in Ohio. The past week or so has been spent cleaning, unpacking, moving furniture, and lifting heavy boxes and taking them to their appropriate rooms. Add to that the fact that we're still not sleeping in our own bed because we need to purchase a box fan for our attic room, and you can imagine how stiff and sore my muscles have been lately. When I was a little girl, one of my favorite things to play with were my dolls. I had Barbies, Cabbage Patch Kids, and even Jem dolls. (Am I giving away my age here?) I remember I also had a Polly Pocket. I loved my pint sized pal, and I always loved the amount of accessories available for her. The only problem? I always, without fail, lost the little pieces, and Polly Pocket lost her appeal without the add-ons. I was really excited to learn that there's a whole new Polly Pocket experience available for my daughter's generation. Polly has never been so fresh and fun, and there are tons of sets available. The best part? These new dolls and playsets have an ingenious addition that will help prevent losing all of Polly's parts. They have Stick 'n' Play, which allows Polly and all of her friends and accessories to be "suction-cupped" to the playset. These suction cups are very small and don't interfere with the look or feel of the playset at all. I especially love how Polly's shoes contain the Stick 'n' Play component. How clever! |
