There are two things my daughter absolutely loves above all else: Dolls and animals. She has about a zillion dolls of varying sizes, and she likes playing "Mommy" to them. She also adores our three crazy dogs, Chloe, Trouble, and Bear. Sophie has even gone as far as to try and dress our smallest dog, Bear, up in her doll's clothing. Thankfully, this little Shih-Tzu is very laid back and didn't really protest.
So naturally, when I got the opportunity to review the Polly Pocket Pet Shop, I was beyond thrilled. Sophie absolutely adores Polly Pocket
, and the addition of adorable animal pals was sure to delight her. When our pet shop arrived, I couldn't get over how stinking cute it was! Included are Polly, a wide variety of cuddly pets, and loads of accessories like leashes, a slide, an elevator, and even a special container that dispenses doggy treats! (Yes, the treats are also included!)
There's also a grooming station complete with a towel to dry off those cute little pets. There's also a cash register to make those sales! However, I doubt Sophie would want to part with any of the pets for long!
I love the bright colors and attention to detail in this playset. Check out how cute it is!
Fully assembled. There are so many activities!
The pets are adorable! There are cats, dogs, birds, and a bunny, too!
Bunny is getting a bath!
There's a rotating carousel display in the window to display the pets!
Isn't that absolutely precious?! I couldn't wait to see how Sophie reacted to it. Just as I suspected, she went nuts! It took her a few minutes to figure everything out, but once she did, she had a blast. She particularly loves the slide and the elevator and makes the pets go up and down, over and over again!
After awhile, Xander wanted in on the action, too! My little ones took turns making their pets go down the slide and even make "woof" and "meow" sounds to accompany their playtime. It was really nice to see my kids playing together without trying to kill eachother! Please note: This toy has small pieces and is meant for kids ages 3+ due to choking hazards. While I did allow Xander to play too, this was with constant, close supervision.
Overall, we're very pleased with the Polly Pocket Pet Shop. My kids love all of the interactive features as well as the cuddly, friendly looking pets. As a Mom, I love the fact that this set is extremely portable. I can easily pack it up and take it along during trips to Grandma's house or anywhere else we may need to go. My only real complaint is that the suction cup bases weren't included with this set, so pieces may end up getting lost since they're so small. I do understand why they weren't a feature since there are so many moving pieces and activities. Characters can't really slide down the slide if they're suction-cupped to it. We also received a very cute Polly Pocket DVD. My toddlers both absolutely loved it. The animation was bright and cheerful and the music was tons of fun. My kids clapped, giggled and danced while they watched it! I am sure this will end up being a DVD they request often. I can't wait to see what Polly Pocket comes out with next! I would love to see a diner or restaurant, or maybe even a school! ***Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mattel Polly Pocket. I received a product samples and a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.***
