Here in the North-Eastern Ohio area, the weather is really starting to get chilly! Okay...Maybe I am just not used to it after spending so many years in Virginia. It will definitely take some getting used to, but I love the fact that you can really feel the seasons change here. Ahh, it's so nice to be home again! (Even if it does mean I have to bundle up when my neighbors are still wearing shorts!)
We love spending time outdoors, especially in the evenings. It's a great way to connect with family and friends and create lasting memories and traditions. Whether it be having cookouts or picnics, playing sports, or even just relaxing on the deck with a couple drinks and good company, we look forward to spending a lot of time in our back yard.
One thing I really love doing is building a roaring fire, telling spooky stories, and roasting marshmallows over the flames. I have always longed to have a fire pit to do exactly this. The awesome folks at Ohio Flame sent me the 30" Patriot in Natural Steel Finish for my review. It arrived quickly and was very well packaged. I will say, at 68lbs, it was a little heavy to bring into the house. Good thing my brother-in-law, Mike, just got out of the Army and was able to lift it with no problems at all.

I love the fact that there are several variations in the color, making each fire pit completely unique. It has a rustic, vintage feel to it, and makes quite a statement in any outdoor space. Since The Patriot is one piece, there is no assembly required and it is virtually maintenance-free. That's right! You can simply set it up and forget it. No scrubbing, no cleaning, and no hassles. Rain? No problem! The Patriot comes equipped with a convenient 3/8" Rain Drain in Center of Fire Bowl.
We decided to set The Patriot up in our backyard since we didn't think setting anything on fire on our wooden deck was a smart idea. Better safe than sorry, right?

We wasted no time at all planning for our first get-together. We started our fire in the evening, and my family set up some chairs around the warmth of the flames. Perfect for a chilly Ohio evening! My 12 year old loved roasting marshmallows and making S'mores, and my husband and brother-in-law had a great time shooting the breeze over a beer or three.

Overall, we absolutely love our Patriot Fire Pit from Ohio Flame. It is so easy to use, requires no maintenance, and it kept the fire completely contained the whole evening. I love the fact that it's so durable, and that it's proudly made by artisans right here in my home state of Ohio. I think we will get tons of enjoyment from our fire pit for many years to come. Perhaps a Halloween bonfire party is in order? Hmm...I am willing to bet that all of the ghouls and goblins in my neighborhood would have a blast! Sounds like a plan to me!
