If you've noticed it's been really quiet here for the past week, it's for a very exciting reason. We have been in Ohio visiting my Grandparents and finding a home! We found one we absolutely adore, and the seller has accepted our offer! We've already knocked out the home and termite inspections, and we're thrilled to find there are no major issues with the property. It does need some cosmetic work in order to reflect our taste, but what home doesn't need some personal touches? The home was built in 1924 and has been very well maintained. It's got tons of character and charm, and is perfect for my family. It has 4 bedrooms, a living room with built-in bookshelves, and a HUGE family room that has French doors leading out to the deck! There's also a ton of storage in the home, which is always a plus when you have a lot of stuff and 3 kids! The home is also located in the town I grew up in and has a lot to do for families. It's within 5 minutes of the Natatorium, an indoor waterpark, and also WaterWorks, an ourdoor waterpark. There are also tons of parks in the area, and we will be within walking distance of the riverfront where they hold a lot of festivals and have live music every Friday night in the summer time! We close in a couple of weeks and will make the move shortly thereafter! So there is lots to be done here. We need to pack, and we also need to try and sell as much as possible so we can afford to hire movers. We also need to find a couple of AC window units before the move. That's literally the ONLY bad thing about this home. No cooling! So while we save up to have a proper central air system in, we plan to use window units. Hey, I cannot survive the summer heat! Anyway, here are some photos of our new home! Again, it needs redecorating, but it's simply a wonderful home with a ton of potential!

Did they check for lead? I only ask because our house is also that old and we went through and are still dealing with lead removal.

first congrats! now down to business. once again i'm trying to spread the word. don't save up for a central unit. when our central went out a couple of years ago by necessity we switched to window units. we are in mississippi. we know hot. the window units are a blessing in disguise. why? our power bill dropped from 240$ a month to 110$. ina house your size you can " zone" cool and save even more. why cool the bedrooms during the heat of the day. when everyone's in the family room anyway. our largest window unit uses approximately the same power as my COFFEEMAKER. central units may be considered " cooler" by society but they don't keep your house any cooler. hey waste your money and increase your carbon footprint. central units waste money in both the cost of purchase and use. enjoy your new home! sorry if it sounds like a rant. i'm really trying to get the word out on this issue.
