I am sure you all remember hearing classic fairy tales as a child. Stories like Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Three Little Pigs have been told to children for generations. I was read these stories as a child, and I have continued this tradition by reading them to my kids, too. There's nothing better after a long day than snuggling up with my toddlers and reading them a good book.

While these beloved stories have definitely withstood the test of time, I have found that they can be a little bit frightening, especially to younger children. When I tell my toddlers certain tales, I tend to change some details to make things more age appropriate and less scary. Let's face it: To a 2 and a half year old, a wolf disguised as a kindly old grandmother that ends up eating a child can be downright terrifying! I don't want my kids to be afraid of wolves or grandparents, so I doctor the stories and leave out the more morbid details.

That's why I was so thrilled to learn about a new take on classic fairy tales from the folks at My1story. These are the classic tales we all know and love, but with a kid-friendly twist. You see, the folks at My1story have taken out the scary details and replaced them with happy ones! For example, the big bad wolf has been transformed into an approachable wolf cub, and the giant from Jack in the Beanstalk has been turned from a mean, scary character to a young, small, friendly one. Great idea, right?

These books not only have happy stories, they are also beautifully illustrated by Jamie Rodriguez, a former Walt Disney character artist! All of the characters are vibrantly colored and very friendly looking. I received 2 My1story books, "I Love Cake" and "Jack and the Magic Beans". Take a look at how cute these books are!

My toddlers love their books from My1story. They love looking at the pictures, and Xander, my 1 and a half year old, points to wolfie and says "Doggy" and laughs like crazy. They also love listening to the stories. They clap and giggle, and it's ridiculously cute. Just look at the smile on my Sophie's face as she looks at her book!
I am absolutely loving these amped up fairy tales from My1story. They're well-written, age appropriate, and feature gorgeous illustrations. Plus, they're guaranteed not to give my kids nightmares. Happy, sleepy kids make for a well-rested Mommy! With My1story, it's a win-win situation!
