One hurdle many children have to face, especially during early years, is a fear of the dark. With creepy things that go bump in the night, as well as odd sounding creaks and groans, can you blame them? For many kids, they worry about the Boogie Man in the closet or a monster under the bed. As an adult, these things sound silly. But for a small child, these fears are very, very real. Unfortunately, such fears can cause bedtime problems and sleepless nights for kids as well as parents.

Night lights have always been one solution to the problem. Having a soft glow to illuminate a child's surroundings can be quite comforting and help lull them into a comfortable, restful night's sleep. But there are problems surrounding traditional night lights. For one, they are generally plugged into an electrical outlet in the wall. Curious toddlers and outlets do not mix. Trust me here. My oldest, who is now almost 12, loved trying to put scissors and more into the electrical outlets, much to my terror. Yes, he could pry the outlet covers off. He was resourceful, even at an early age. Another issue with traditional night lights is the fact that they tend to get extremely hot, posing a burn hazard to curious little tots. Sure, you might think it's fine because a child may still be in their crib, but kids can climb, and may escape the safety of the crib when you least expect it. In a darkened room, they may be drawn to the comforting glow of a night light and may suffer injuries by grabbing at it. If you ask me, traditional night lights in a child's room are far too risky, and the potential hazards far outweigh the positives.

That's why I was so excited to learn about the night lights from KinderGlo. These aren't your ordinary night lights. How are they different? Simple! They are made specifically with children in mind! KinderGlo night lights come in a wide variety of cute, whimsical characters, such as a friendly elephant, a happy hippo, an adorable teddy bear, and even a peaceful angel, just to name a few. There are even a couple of non-threatening looking dinosaurs for the budding paleontologists in your life! (And what little boy doesn't love dinosaurs?!)

Good looks aside, what really makes KinderGlo night lights special are how they're made. These awesome little lights are made of completely safe, kid-friendly materials that do not overheat...ever! No burn hazards here! As a matter of fact, these night lights can safely be held and snuggled by children with no worries at all! They are also BPA and lead free, and are carefully packaged with 100% recyclable materials.

These huggable, lovable night lights produce a comforting, illuminating glow in a rainbow of soothing colors. You can choose your child's favorite color or set it to an ongoing color-changing mode, all with the click of a button. You can even set it to automatically shut off after 30 minutes, or allow it to remain on all night long for those tots that may take a little longer to doze off.

The KinderGlo also is super simple to recharge, since it comes with a convenient charging base. No need to eat through countless batteries! I have to say, I am pretty wary of products that take small batteries, since Sophie actually swallowed a button battery from a child's toy last Mother's Day. This is something that parents need to be vigilant about, and with the KinderGlo, I do not fear for my children's safety.

Speaking of my kids, they LOVE the KinderGlo! I received the jolly little KinderGlo Elephant for my review. My toddlers immediately started fighting over it! They both loved his cheery little face as well as the soothing rainbow of colors he glowed. Sophie, my 2 year old, had a great time carrying around her "Efflant" and even hugged and snuggled him quite a bit. She even figured out how to change the color settings, all by herself! She obviously felt quite proud of that, since it made her feel a bit more independent.

Look, Mommy! He glows!
Xander, my 1 year old, also loves the KinderGlo. He, too, was able to change the colors and squealed with delight as he changed it from red to purple to blue and to green. He especially loves the rainbow mode, and will sit staring at the color changes, giggling wildly. He has pretty much taken over the KinderGlo, and insists on having it nearby as he settles down for a nap. If only they had Kinder-Twins! Then my babies wouldn't have to fight over their elephant friend!

This is his cheesy, "I know you have the camera" smile. What a ham!
Overall, I am loving the KinderGlo Elephant night light, and more importantly, so are my children. Night time fears will not be an issue in my home since my babies will have this soothing, calming friend to help lull them off into dreamland. They like KinderGlo because it's fun. As a mom, I like KinderGlo because it's safe, comforting, and allows me to avoid bed-time temper tantrums. Heck, the KinderGlo allows me to get more rest. And as everyone knows, when Mommy is happy and well-rested, everyone's happy! I would definitely recommend this product to any family with small children. Trust me. You NEED a KinderGlo. Try it! You, and the bags under your eyes induced by sleepless nights from fussy children, will thank me! The KinderGlo is also super-portable, making it the ideal travel companion. Kids can be fearful of unfamiliar surroundings, especially at night. The KinderGlo can help ward off things that go bump in the night, no matter where the road takes you. All in all, this product definitely makes my must-have list!
